Sixth Man Shop launches to support local Philadelphia charities! ->
Welcome to the Sixth Man Shop!
When I started my instagram account 18 months ago, I never dreamed that I would have almost 50,000 fans following me! I thought I might reach 500 followers, never 50k! I knew it would be a fun way to communicate directly with a few fans and post a few pictures from the games, but I could have never imagined this.
I totally underestimated Sixth Man Nation. Over this time, I have been able to interact directly with tens of thousands of fans and it was clear to me that we have built something special together. I cherish every follower and wouldn’t have this platform without each of you!
As my social media journey started, I never realized how much of an impact we can all make on our local community and many great charitable organizations.
To celebrate my 76th Birthday in January 2020, I took 76 incredible young women from Team Up Philly to a game. I also printed custom Sixth Man T-Shirts for them to wear during the game.
After I posted the pictures, thousands of fans reached out to me to see if they could buy that actual T-Shirt. I was shocked! Many fans have also asked to buy my Sixth Man masks, hats, posters and rally towels. That’s when the idea for the Sixth Man Shop hit me.
As a result, I decided to launch the Sixth Man Shop...and donate the sales to charities in the Philadelphia area. Proceeds from the Sixth Man Shop will be donated to local nonprofits on a rotating basis. I will be selecting a new charity every few months.
The first organization that the Sixth Man Shop will support is Philadelphia Youth Basketball. I’ve been involved in PYB for several years and they are doing incredible things in our community. You might have seen the Sixth Man Pizza launch at Angelo’s in November where $1.76 from each pizza is donated to PYB. PYB applies the values of the game of basketball to enable young people—especially those from under-resourced communities—to develop their potential as students, athletes, and positive leaders.
So, everytime you order Sixth Man merchandise from the site, you will be supporting great organizations in our incredible city!! For the next few months, you will be supporting PYB.
